Chances are you haven't heard of this, infact its quite unbelievable that it exists publicly, as you will no doubt see for yourself...
'Established in the spring of 1997, the Project for the New American Century is a non-profit, educational organization whose goal is to promote American global leadership.'
The site continues to outline its fundamental propositions with 'American leadership is good both for America and for the world; and that such leadership requires military strength, diplomatic energy and commitment to moral principle.'
Good for the world? Moral principle? Erm.....
Unfortunately, it gets worse. Check out some of the things they actually had on their site in September 2000....
- Calls American Armed Forces 'the cavalry on the new American frontier'.
- Says that key allies like the United Kingdom are 'the most effective and efficient means of exercising American global leadership'.
- 'The United States has sought for decades to play a more permanent role in Gulf regional security. While the unresolved conflict with Iraq provides the immediate justification, the need for a substantial American force presence in the Gulf transcends the issue of the regime of Saddam Hussein.'
(So I guess we shouldn't be expecting them to come out of there anytime soon then...)
- Calls for a blueprint for maintaining global US pre-eminence and shaping the 'international security order' in line with 'America's principles and interests'.
- This 'American Grand Strategy' must be advanced 'as far into the future as possible' and the US must 'fight and decisively win multiple, simulataneous major theatre wars' as a 'core mission'.
- Says that peacekeeping missions demand 'American political leadership rather than that of the United Nations.'
- Highlights 'North Korea, Syria, Iran and Libya as dangerous regimes' (targets for control) and says their existence justifies the creation of a 'worldwide command-and-control system.'
(Guess where this is heading....)
- Spotlights China for 'regime change' saying 'its time for the presence of American forces in south-east Asia.' This could lead to 'American and allied power providing the spur to the process of democratisation in China.'
- Calls for the creation of 'US Space Forces' to dominate space and total control of cyberspace to prevent their 'enemies' using the intenet.
(So we should expect this site to be censored any day now......scroll down)
- Talks of developing biological weapons that can target 'specific genotypes' - this may transform biological warfare from the realm of terror to a 'politically useful tool.'
'OUR PEARL HARBOUR'
The Project for the New American Century document says that this....'process of transformation is likely to be a long one, absent some catastrophic and catalyzing event - like a new Pearl Harbour.'
What did Bush describe 9-11 as? Oh thats right, 'Our Peal Harbour'...what a coincidence, and just one year after this document was written....and everything that has happened since (thats mentioned in this document too) has been justified by 9-11.
